An LNG virtual pipeline is a flexible mobile method for transporting Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to areas without existing gas network infrastructure. The virtual pipeline value chain typically starts with a truck loading station for LNG supply, either sourced from small-scale liquefaction plants or larger import terminals. Once LNG is loaded into the container, it can be transported over the road by truck or by sea using conventional container carrier vessels. At the receiving end, regasification facilities are employed to vaporize the LNG to natural gas and supply the end user with gas or power. This value chain provides a dynamic and adaptable solution for delivering natural gas to locations with high energy needs, and is a key enabler to shifting away from more expensive and high emitting heavy fuels.
A key strategic area for Rosetta is to enable & promote the utilization of alternative fuels, particularly for hard to abate transportation segments. Rosetta is currently developing an LNG Bunkering project in Egypt with internationally renowned partners. The project targets vessels transiting through the Suez Canal, helping the shipping industry shift from traditional high emission fossil fuels to cleaner and more cost competitive natural gas fuel. In parallel, Rosetta is developing green fuel solutions as an alternative to LNG, particularly focusing on biofuels and biogas in emerging markets. Rosetta’s vision for the long-term energy landscape is focused on transition to carbon-neutral and zero-carbon fuels of synthetic or chemical origin, such as e-fuels, hydrogen & ammonia.

Our vision for marine fuel bunkering is to provide ships with cleaner alternative fuels replacing conventional marine fuels such as MDO and HFO. This involves transferring fuels such as LNG, methanol and green ammonia either from shore-to-ship (from storage & loading facilities or trucks), or ship-to-ship (employing a bunkering vessel or barge); serving different customers, such as container liners, bulk carriers and cruise liners.
